The Ashanti Regional Education Directorate, in collaboration with the Ashanti Regional Minister’s Office, joined forces to bring the creative talents of senior high school students to the heart of Kumasi through the Ashanti Street Art Festival, held as part of Ashanti-Fest 2026.
Held at the Asokwa Interchange on March 21 and 22, 2026, the initiative gave Visual Arts students from senior high schools across the region an opportunity to transform public spaces into vibrant works of art.
From striking portraits of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and President John Dramani Mahama to Adinkra symbols, kente patterns and other expressions of Ashanti heritage, the murals turned the busy interchange into a remarkable open-air gallery.
More than beautifying the city, the project gave our young artists practical experience in large-scale mural painting, colour theory, teamwork and working to deadlines, while building confidence and showcasing the creative potential of students in the region.
It was education beyond the classroom. It was creativity on the streets.
Yes!! It was Ashanti talent on full display.
